Our shows are full audio-theatre productions featuring a fun, family-friendly, sci-fi martial arts adventure in space.
THE AMBASSADOR crosses generations and cultures, East and West. It’s a comfortable adventure in a world where excellence is expected, integrity and honor matter, trust is earned, wits matter more than firepower, friends are the best, everybody gets a seat at the table, and the good guys win most of the time. It’s not the same and it is exactly the same. It will make you smile, cry a little, and smile again. It’s a human story, grounded in real-world science. It’s about the heroes, not the villains.
The Ambassador and her team don’t save the universe. They try to do good. Sometimes they succeed. Sometimes they fail. They are excellent at what they do. They are brilliant and humble, honest and kind. They are mostly regular, normal, outwardly average, incredibly interesting, quietly extraordinary people.
The characters, situations and the conversations will be familiar and completely different. The human activities of going out to play with friends, enjoying a nice meal, and sorting out problems will be familiar. Doing that in space not so much even though they mostly stay in the Local Neighborhood. And while they have some special skills, the characters had to learn them. They worked hard to attain a level of excellence that few achieve. That effort will be familiar, too. Hard work (gong fu 功夫 ) is the foundation. The abilities they have come from dedication, commitment, and practice. Having magical swords and jewels helps, too.
Each original, scripted episode is based on a chapter from the books. Some elements have to change or be adjusted so they can be heard, but otherwise, it’s the same story. We’ve added material to the shows to enhance the stories and give the actors a chance to bring out their characters. With the addition of concept art, we have a nice visual experience to go with the audio.
We have much more planned and more we would like to do.
One of the goals for the show is to foster conversations – the same sort of conversations the characters have. If they can find a way to sort things out and learn to work together, so can we. That positive effort is one of the themes in the story. We’d like it to be something in the real-world, too.
So, if you’d like, sit down with a nice hot bowl of tasty soup, slice a piece of fresh warm bread, pour a glass of your favorite, watch the show, and smile.
