Names

“What is your name?” Bo’ran asked.

The boy adjusted himself to stand taller. “I am Relna, son of Make,” he said proudly with all the courage and respect he could muster.

“Your parents have taught you well,” Bo’ran said approvingly. He turned to the Ambassador. “In our culture, names and lineage are important. Our children learn their family history from the time they can speak. For someone of higher position to ask a person their name is considered a great honor.”

The Ambassador nodded. “Our culture is not unlike yours, Minister.”

Minister Bo’ran looked surprised. “And you still…”

“Yes,” the Ambassador said.
